Summary

RES is currently accepting applications for a Restoration Designer in Dallas, TX. The desired candidate’s responsibilities would include, but are not limited to performing all aspects of fieldwork, writing technical reports, collecting and organizing data, development of restoration designs, and the creation of restoration plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, grading design, natural channel design, fluvial geomorphology, field survey and data collection techniques, and environmental regulations.

Job description

RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 294 stream miles and 58,000 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 9,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 14,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 250 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a balance of economic development and ecological sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in a natural resources design field (such as but not limited to landscape architecture, civil engineering, biological systems engineering, agricultural engineering, or water resources engineering)
• Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.) with attention to detail
• Ability to effectively focus on a variety of tasks to produce quality results and within deadlines
• Ability to travel occasionally to sites as needed. Overnight stays occasionally are required.
• A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs

Desired Qualifications:
• Curriculum or on the job experience with stream restoration, field data collection, water resources engineering, and hydraulic and hydrologic modelling
• Knowledge of stream ecology, biology, and geomorphology
• Knowledge of watershed hydrology, stream hydraulics, and sediment transport
• Understanding of the use of regional regressions, regional curves, and reference data in stream restoration design
• Ability to determine design discharge, channel cross section, profile and planform
• Ability to read and interpret ecological restoration construction plans
• Ability to interpret results from H&H models
• AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS or other hydrologic and hydraulic software
• Experience in construction document production
• Clean Water Act, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes
• Participating in a team environment effectively and efficiently
• Ability to lead a team of biologists, graphics specialists, and others through design related tasks
• Willingness to live on or frequently travel to project site near Bonham, Texas
