Summary

The location of the role is flexible but is required to be based in one of our offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. ROLE PROFILE:
The position of Senior Hydrogeologist in the national ERM water sustainability team is required to:
Creating and sustaining ERM’s reputation for technical excellence and leadership in a strategic discipline through work with clients, industry networks and university programs
Leveraging technical excellence and thought leadership to improve the ERM’s business model and commercial results
Establishing and maintaining technical quality processes that effectively manage ERM’s risks and consistently ensure high quality client deliverables
Maintaining strong relationships to external knowledge communities and effectively transferring this expertise back into the organization
Creating new services and methodologies in line with prevailing legislation, evolving discipline best practice and client needs
Accepting accountability for project technical review, in line with the requirements of the Partner in Charge/Project Manager (PIC PM) model
Support the Brisbane and Melbourne teams in the development of business and the technical delivery of projects and programmes of work particularly of hydrogeological assessments and the fate and transport of contaminants in groundwater; and
Be available to support national (and regional) remediation, mining, chemical, power, waste management, and environmental auditing projects
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor, Master’s degree or PhD in earth science, environmental science, engineering, or related field with a specialisation in hydrogeology and the fate and transport of contaminants in groundwater.
7-10 years of consulting experience in hydrogeology, the development of conceptual hydrogeological models, groundwater resource characterisations, impact assessments and assessment of the transport and fate of solutes and contaminants in groundwater.
Should demonstrate experience of working across a range of market sectors such as chemical, mining, oil and gas and manufacturing within Australia.
The ideal candidate will fill a technical leadership role in hydrogeology and should possess and broad network of local and national clients in the resources, agribusiness and property development industries that will facilitate steady growth of the team
Understanding of local regulatory context, including established relationships with regulatory stakeholders and, preferably, experience in providing hydrogeological advice to environmental auditors.
Experience in the use of analytical and/or numerical groundwater flow and solute transport models is considered an advantage.
Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize corporate opportunities.
Demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of technical hydrogeology-focussed projects, including winning technical aspects of large and strategic projects.
Proven experience mentoring and growing a team of consultants.
