Summary

Scenic Consulting Group (formerly known as North State Engineering) is seeking a self-motivated individual for an environmental scientist position. This position will work with the current team to assist our clients by assessing natural resources, providing technical reporting and interfacing with regulatory agencies.

Job description

Essential Functions
• Apply background knowledge of biology, forestry, hydrology or natural resources to assist our team and clients in providing natural resource assessments including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, protected species surveys and forest inventories.
• Utilize organization and technical writing skills to organize and compile data and document or report on research and field efforts.
• Knowledge and experience in basic computing skills including Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
• Desire and/or ability to interface and comprehend unmanned aerial systems technologies (UAS), both the software and hardware associated with UAS. An individual with a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate preferred but not required.

Prerequisites for employment include:
• BS degree in biology, botany, ecology, wildlife, geographical information systems or similar field
• 3+ years of experience with natural resource related projects
• Writing skills and ability to interpret and present field data in technical reports
• Experience and positive relationships with regulatory agencies
• Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge and familiarity with Trimble GPS unit, Microstation, and ArcGIS
• Willingness to travel for consecutive days/nights
• NCDOT experience a plus
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment
