Summary
Main responsibilities of the Flood Engineer will be to search, find, collect, clean, and complete data related to regional historical inundations from riverine (from precipitations), inland (from storms), and coastal (from surge) floods; to research regional natural (topography) and manmade (flood defense) hydrological aspects that can lead to and/or have impact on flooding events; to develop regional Intensity-Frequency relationships for specific, or system of basins and to develop probabilistic regional inundation models.

Responsibilities
• Search, find, collect, clean, and complete data related to regional historical inundations from riverine (from precipitations), inland (from storms), and coastal (from surge) floods
• Research regional natural (topography) and manmade (flood defense) hydrological aspects that can lead to and/or have impact on flooding events
• Develop regional Intensity-Frequency relationships for specific, or system of basins
• Develop probabilistic regional inundation models
• Communicate with clients informing on flood inundation scenarios and their impact, as well as assisting them in developing their own models for different parts of the world
• Conduct post disaster field surveys after major events
Qualifications
• PhD or higher in hydrology and/or flood engineering, with research relevant to flood inundation possibilities and probabilities. (this is not a Civil Engineering position)
• In-depth knowledge of, and skill in, probability and statistical methods
• Experience building catastrophe or other types of computer models
• Willingness to travel within and outside the US
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
