Your Role
The postdoctoral researcher has the following specific tasks:
- Lead a transdisciplinary research process to transform thinking and practice in how we engage with water that is embedded in two river basins and draws on diverse forms of knowledge (expert and local knowledge). The work will involve deploying a set of national scenarios, and further developing different collaborative methods for future-oriented systems thinking a complex social-ecological-technological system for participatory water governance in Luxembourg, and co-developing a site as a living laboratory (real labor).
- Contribute to a collaborative design process for an internet-based citizen science tool in contribution to sustainable water governance for improved water quality and security assisting a PhD candidate.
- Management of the development of a digital learning platform for sustainable governance of water, taking a complex social-ecological systems’ perspective
- Help address data preservation, data accuracy and security, and data processing aspects.
- Contribute to teaching in the study programme ‘Certificate in Sustainability and Social Innovation’.
The postdoctoral researcher has the following general tasks:
- Assume responsibilities for project management, budgeting and reporting;
- Organize, run and follow-up of workshops deploying collaborative methods for future-oriented systems thinking and development of social innovation projects;
- Collaborate in the preparation of journal publications with other team members (e.g. data analysis; provide summary of findings; literature reviews);
- Prepare and coordinate meetings and report on the project progress;
- Some teaching;
- Participate in conferences and contribute in other ways to disseminate findings.

Your Profile
- You enjoy assuming full responsibility for collaborative inter- and transdisciplinary work processes with multiple partners with diverse perspectives from academia and practice, including the organization, facilitation and documentation of workshops.
- You have completed a Ph.D. degree relating to water- and/or agricultural systems, preferably with some experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research.
- You gained experience in deploying qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- You like to proactively assume responsibilities and frame your own work, in close coordination and cooperation, taking account of needs of other team members associated with the same project. Empathy is a strength of yours.
- You enjoy writing and communicating about your work to diverse target audiences in academia and practice, on the internet and in social media.
- An excellent command of English and German (written and spoken) is required, Luxembourgish is an asset. The ability to read in French is necessary to understand the Luxembourg legal context.
- Familiarity with systems theory, science and technology studies (STS), sociology of knowledge, or related fields that direct attention to the co-production of science, knowledge, technologies and social practices and culture is considered an asset.
- You are living in or are prepared to move to Luxembourg for the job.
