Job Description



Main Function



The Severn Estuary Partnership (SEP) is a dynamic Coastal Partnership with 25 years’ experience working with all those involved in the management of the Severn Estuary from planners to port authorities, fishermen to farmers and importantly, local communities.  Hosted by Cardiff University’s School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, SEP has successfully secured funding for a number of flagship projects. Responsible to the Partnership Manager, you will play a key role in contributing to the development and successful delivery of a variety of these projects, with particular focus on the exciting ‘Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset’ project, a community campaign which aims to reduce marine and beach litter and protect bathing water quality in Somerset



 



Key Duties 



 


• Collaborate with SEP team members and project partners in order to develop clear stakeholder engagement plans, campaigns and other deliverables for SEP projects



 



• Coordinate engagement activities and events within the Severn Estuary Partnership’s area, including the annual Severn Estuary Forum, using judgement and creativity to suggest innovative communication mechanisms where appropriate,  in order to contribute towards the sustainable management of the Severn Estuary



•Establish working relationships and develop appropriate communication links with key external stakeholders and project partners in order to organise, facilitate and participate in working groups, project meetings and workshops.



• Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the Partnership, including the maintenance of the SEP website and contact database, production of the monthly SEP e-newsletter and social media updates



 



• Gather and analyse data to inform engagement activities, identify trends and patterns in data and assist in the evaluation of the engagement programme and create reports as appropriate



• Instruct and guide the input of project volunteers and students on a day-to-day basis



• Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties



• Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity



• Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role, such as contributing to and participating in Cardiff University’s EARTH outreach activities

Qualification and Education



  1. Degree in environmental management/ geography or a relevant allied area or an equivalent qualification or equivalent work-related experience


Knowledge, Skills and Experience



  1. Substantial experience of working on and helping to deliver successful community and stakeholder engagement projects
