Summary
Coastal science or engineering and will provide support to the Southern California Maritime and Coastal Service Line. You will have the ability and interest in working in an office environment and in the field (if necessary).

Typical duties to include:
Provide technical support for various maritime or coastal projects, examples include shoreline protection, wetland restoration, dredging, trails / bikeways and marinas.
Undertake analysis of shoreline change, sea level rise impacts and resiliency of coastal projects.
Provide calculations of rock armor size, scour, wave forces, coastal processes, and volume calculations.
Assist with environmental permitting for coastal or waterfront projects.
Provide inputs into proposals for maritime & coastal projects.
Technical Competencies:
Familiarity with coastal design and analysis software
Experienced in data analysis and related software (Excel, Matlab, Python)
Familiarity and experienced with ArcMap GIS and CAD, CIVIL 3D preferred.
Familiarity with CEQA/NEPA and environmental permitting in the coastal zone (California specific experience preferred)
Behavioral Competencies:
Ability to effectively communicate in person and over the phone
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, where appropriate
Ability to communicate with a team of coastal engineers/scientist/ modelers/ environmental professionals/ stakeholders/ clients, in person and remotely
Interest in and contribution to writing papers, attending conferences, and furthering the technical growth of the maritime & coastal service line
Minimum requirements:
BS in Coastal Science or Engineering, Masters preferred
PE License preferred, EIT or willingness to pursue
0 to 5 years maritime & coastal industry experience
Good communication skills & a motivated attitude
High ethical standards and a commitment to safety
Willingness to travel (if necessary)
