Summary

The person in this position will be responsible for planning and conducting research related to flood modeling and study of subsequent property losses.

Work will include preparing reports and presentations describing the results of studies completed or in progress, the relevance of the results for loss prevention and risk management, and the development and implementation of loss prevention and mitigation techniques; and developing plans for strategic research that will lead to measurable, significant improvements in the ability to estimate future property losses.

Responsibilities:
The person in this position will be responsible for planning and conducting research related to flood modeling and study of subsequent property losses.

Work will include preparing reports and presentations describing the results of studies completed or in progress, the relevance of the results for loss prevention and risk management, and the development and implementation of loss prevention and mitigation techniques; and developing plans for strategic research that will lead to measurable, significant improvements in the ability to estimate future property losses.

Qualifications:
This position requires a PhD degree and a solid research record in fields related to riverine flood modeling; strong technical programming and modeling experience demonstrating broad understanding of modeling principles, and model setup, calibration and validation; experience with collecting, processing, and analyzing data, and in developing and implementing new techniques.

Desired to have GIS skills, a sound background in statistics and previous experience with high-performance computing. Applicants must have demonstrated project management abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
