Position Summary:

The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator supports the growth and implementation of Water4’s fundraising strategy, focused on the institutional donor portfolio. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Sr. Director of Strategic Partnerships with proposal development and partnership building, as well as grant and contract compliance for all Water4 institutional donors, including reporting, communications, and relationship management.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Strategic Partnerships. The Strategic Partnerships team will work closely to prospect new donors, develop grant and partnership proposals, and manage post-bid donor relations, or stewardship. The team is responsible for meeting or exceeding annual revenue targets in support of Water4 operations.

Job functions for new partnerships include prospecting, arranging initial meetings with potential donors or partners, preparing concept notes and writing proposal drafts, in close collaboration with the Program and Finance departments including staffing plans and budgets. The Coordinator will be part of a team that represents Water4 to a wide range of potential partners, including international NGOs, impact investors, foundations, corporations, multilateral development banks, and individual donors.

The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator will also manage the hand-off of grants to the Program team, and will continue to monitor and track progress throughout the grant lifecycle. The Coordinator will also lead grant reporting by working with the Program and Finance teams to ensure reporting and compliance requirements are understood and that reports are submitted to donors as required. The Coordinator may be asked to support writing of sub-contracts and relationship management with other implementing partners.

The Coordinator will liaise between the Strategic Partnerships and Marketing Departments with regard to communications and will focus efforts on writing stories, social media posts, blogs, impact reports, and marketing materials and editing the work of colleagues.

The Coordinator should be a self-starter and eager to learn and develop new leadership skills. He or she will develop and maintain a best-practices understanding of the water and sanitation sector and will develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the mission, values, business strategy, business model and current field operations of Water4.

The Coordinator will be accountable for setting and achieving annual key performance indicators in support of departmental key results. He or she will participate in routine team meetings, maintain a flexible approach to work programming and shifting priorities, and serve as a team player to build and scale the work of Water4 toward its 2030 vision.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resources Management, International Development, Communications, Journalism or other
2-5 years of work experience with an international development agency or international business, including grant or contract writing and grant or contract management
Excellent communications and writing skills
Excellent networking skills and ability to prospect new donors
Experience with mission-based work and/or faith-based approaches in development
Passionate about supporting poverty alleviation in all its forms, and working toward the greater good by empowering others
Experience in the water and sanitation sector is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Google Suite, Dropbox
Experience managing programs or projects in Asana, Loomly and Salesforce is a plus
Experience with social media post writing in a professional setting
Ability and willingness to travel internationally and in the U.S. to meet partners and attend events as a Water4 representative
Ability to serve as a Water4 brand ambassador
Proficiency is French language is a plus
Strong organizational skills
