Based in our Memphis office, the Water/Wastewater Engineer will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification or standard engineering techniques and procedures. May make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures. May function as technical specialist or project manager on small to mid-size projects. May supervise small staff of professionals and technicians.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Water/Wastewater Engineer include creating detailed designs of water and wastewater treatment systems, distribution systems and collection systems, supporting implementation of infrastructure improvements through construction phase services, and supporting and performing condition assessment of water infrastructure systems. More specific design responsibilities include preparing plans for water and wastewater systems, calculations, writing specifications, analysis and study-level reports for water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems, determining appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection and working directly with the owner and other project stakeholders. More specific construction phase responsibilities include serving as owner’s representative, coordination of inspection/observation activities, review and response to shop drawings, submittals, requests for clarification and other construction related correspondence, coordination of startup, commissioning and acceptance activities.
Other responsibilities will include:
Create detailed designs of water/wastewater treatment, pump stations, and collection/distribution systems, including plans and specifications, site layouts, and size and select equipment.
Prepare cost opinions and write technical documents.
Perform life cycle cost analyses and process calculations and perform hydraulic analysis calculations to develop hydraulic profiles.
Prepare process and civil design drawings and coordinate with BIM/CADD technicians for construction plans production.
Support construction phase implementation of infrastructure improvements by providing engineering services and serving as owner’s representative.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
5 or more years of experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
PE in Tennessee or ability to obtain through reciprocity
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
MSCE preferred
Preference given to local candidates
