Summary

Works with software development teams at HEC to lead testing, debugging, documentation, and technology transfer of hydrologic modeling capabilities. Identifies the necessary design for the features/enhancements being funded and develops design documents and contracts, including cost estimates and completion schedules. Plans, organizes, and directs technology transfer and technical guidance for application of HEC?s hydrologic modeling software for Corps offices as part of the overall HEC technology transfer program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement Hydrologist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. My course work included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: which includes course work, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with assisting on software development through testing, debugging of hydrologic modeling capabilities, and developing training material and assisting with hydrologic modeling studies and data analysis.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
