Summary

As an Associate Scientist/Engineer at EPS, you will work with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. You will serve as a Task Manager or Project Manager for multiple projects and clients. Your project team will include engineers and scientists with varying levels of experience and expertise. You’ll be responsible for project scoping and planning, preparing deliverables (e.g.,work plans, and reports), analyzing data, developing and implementing remediation plans, and overseeing and/or conducting field work for a variety of industries. You’ll gain exposure to evaluating multi-media fate and transport, including soil, groundwater, soil gas, sediment and surface water. You will maintain current business and develop new business as part of your role. You’ll have opportunities to work with Montrose’s multiple business divisions to provide comprehensive services to our clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an Associate Scientist/Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple projects in Georgia and across the U.S. You’ll interact directly with regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:



Apply scientific principles to design and implement field programs to characterize and interpret the geological and geochemical settings of study sites;
Develop a path forward for the project based on the regulatory framework (e.g., CERLA, RCRA, brownfield, voluntary program, TSCA);
Evaluate local, state and federal rules and guidance with respect to individual projects;
Provide leadership and technical expertise in support for various environmental projects in various sectors including manufacturing, oil and gas, infrastructure, brownfields and industrial re-development; utility, power;
Assist with developing, mentoring and providing necessary oversight of junior and intermediate staff for carrying out various technical tasks and field programs for contaminated site investigations, feasibility studies, remediation design and implementation, hydrogeological studies and monitoring programs;
Provide technical leadership on large and complex environmental projects;
Prepare or review reports, work plans, specifications and proposals; manage technical budgets and provide oversight of intermediate and junior staff work for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy, QA/QC;
Support practice area planning and goal setting, working with other senior level staff across the US to provide integrated services for current and prospective clients, and actively participate in local, national and international collaborative opportunities;
Assist in business development activities;
Maintain positive and long-term professional working relationships with client contacts, contractors, engineering consultants, and external agencies;
Contribute to ongoing technical knowledge and innovation initiatives;
Maintain confidentiality at all times;
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs;
Participate in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts;
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by maintaining professional certifications and completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops; and
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM Qualifications

10+ years of progressively-responsible experience in technical projects
MS or PhD in Geological or Environmental Science or Engineering
PE or PG required
40-hour OSHA certification with 8-hr refreshers required
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills necessary
5+ years experience in developing new business
CCR and/or PFAS specialized expertise a plus
Ability to travel 25% of time
Ability to drive to client sites
Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
Solid organization and time/project management skills
